The Archery Recurve Bow
Chuck Holloway
Bow and arrows were created in a time when cavemen roamed the Earth. Through technology, spears evolved into arrows which were placed into the bows and fired, allowing for greater velocity and an increase in killing force.
With the bow and arrow, the distance and velocity of the arrow is directly related to the length of the bow string, for instance, a longer bow string will send the arrow farther than a shorter bow string. At the same time, common sense tells us that the length of the string also determines the length of the bow.
Archery recurve bows have been invented to allow archers and hunters to shoot at targets that are farther away. The bow is specially designed with edges that curve outwards allowing for an increase in draw which propels the arrow great distances. On an ordinary bow the edges curve inwards giving the bow somewhat of an arch.
The recurve bow allows the user to fire an arrow farther distances than a regular bow without compromising the size of the bow body. This makes for easier maneuverability and storage while venturing out into the great outdoors.
The archery recurve bow has quickly become a favorite among archers around the world. Many professional archers use the archery recurve bow when competing in events, even the Olympics. Most of the add-ons in todays market have been designed especially for the archery recurve bow.
The archery recurve bow is beneficial for both competitive events as well as hunting in the outdoors. The archery recurve bow allows hunters to keep a distance from the game being hunted and still give the chance for an accurate shot. Also, the recurve bow allows for greater maneuverability instead of hauling around a bulky bow that can often get in the way and contribute to missed shots. The archery recurve bow is definitely the right bow for any great hunter to add to their collection.
